China’s Tibet Autonomous Region says, “Belt and Road Initiative” will be effective to connect Tibet via Nepal to South Asia. The Forum on the Development of Tibet, which was held in Lhasa, attended by top officials and international experts express that the BRI should be given the top priority to link Tibet with South Asia via Nepal.
160 experts from 37 counties who attended the forum had initially studied about the development of Tibet. In this forum there were 160 experts, government officials, scholars, journalists form 37 Countries including United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Nepal and Luxemburg. In the opening ceremony of the event, Mr. Xii Chhala, Head of Tibet government and under- secretary of Chinese Communist Party, Tibet Autonomous Region said that this programme will open the door for the development of Tibet along with Nepal and South Asia. He also explained the historical friendship between Nepal and China stating that mountains are not the obstacle between Nepal and China, rivers seems to be the communication media between the countries and the every steps of the mountains acts as a window.
He also recalled the importance of the historical friendship between Nepal and China. He added, in 13th century, Araniko, an artist, from Nepal came to Tibet, who built a Golden Tower in Tibet. He then moved to Beijing permanently, where he helped creating the arts for Haan, Mongolian and Tibetan groups residing in China. The history says Nepal and China are good friends from the ancient times.
This Forum was indirectly concentrated on the mutual benefit between Nepal and China. The experts from different countries also pointed out the role of Nepal for the development of Tibet in BRI. The conclusion of all participants was to link Nepal by the Chinese Railway through the mountain.
Leader Xii also said that China has an objective to connect Nepal through the railway which is now up to Shigatse, and is also necessary too for the achievement of BRI. During the forum, the experts have visited households, schools, factories and social welfare centers of Lhasa and Linjhing. They also expressed their positive feelings on the massive development on the financial and environmental protection sector of Tibet.In Tibet, development of the infrastructure, especially the road and highways, which is linked with villages and cities is remarkable.
This is really a great achievement, says the experts. They also said that of 60 years open democracy policy helped Tibet for the sustainable development on natural environment, which attracted huge number of the tourists. Also due to BRI, Tibet is open and stepping forward in the development sectors.
We expect that Tibet will play vital role in developing the connectivity between China and South Asia. The participants also said that the historical cultural relationship between Tibet and South Asia helpto initiate for the development of the region. In 2013, the BRI proposed by the president of China Mr. Xi xing ping has boosted role of Tibet to initiate the dialogue with South Asia.
