Nepal Won nearly NPR 6 Million in PUBG Tournament

Kathmandu – Nepal’s DRS Gaming & Skylightz Gaming secure 2nd & 3rd places at the 2022 PUBG MOBILE Pro League South Asia Championship Fall split. South Asia’s biggest PUBG MOBILE tournament, the Fall edition of the 2022 PUBG MOBILE Pro League (PMPL) South Asia Championship came to a conclusion recently with the best PUBG MOBILE Esports athletes from South Asia competing for a USD 150,000 prize pool.

With 4 days of 24 exciting PUBG MOBILE matches coming to a close, Godlike Stalwart from Mongolia secured the Fall Championship emulating their performance during the Spring edition, while two teams from Nepal, DRS Gaming and Skylightz Gaming came in second and third place securing NPR 3.6 million and NPR 2.3 million respectively.

The 2022 PMPL South Asia Championship Fall saw 16 of the best PUBG MOBILE teams qualifying through PMPL South Asia and PMPL Pakistan. The 16 teams that competed were: High Voltage, DRS Gaming, ElementriX, Skylightz Gaming, Trained to Kill and Venom Legends from Nepal; DE Warriors, IHC ESPORTS, Mabetex Esports and Godlike Stalwart from Mongolia; AGONxi8 Esports, Team QWERTY, Quantum Rage, Team TUF, Magnus Esports and R3GICIDE from Pakistan.

Godlike Stalwart showed a dominating performance with 4 first place victories securing 264 points overall to take the Championship home. DRS Gaming topped the leaderboard early on in the tournament, but succumbed to Mongolia’s Godlike Stalwart with their aggressive gameplay. DRS Gaming came in a close second place with 256 points. Skylightz Gaming came in third with 231 points. In similar fashion to the Spring edition, AGONxi8 Esports came in fourth place with 229 points while team T2K came in fifth place with 220 points.

DRS Gaming, Skylightz Gaming and Trained to Kill also earn their way into the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship to join Godlike Stalwart and AGONxi8 Esports who have already qualified for the global tournament which is scheduled to take place in November 2022.

With the highest MVP rating which takes into consideration the eliminations a player secures as well as the damage inflicted during the matches, Burenbayar ‘TOP’ Altangerel claimed the MVP title of the tournament. With a high degree of skill and teamwork, all players performed to their maximum capabilities fighting to secure the Championship for their teams.

For the first time in South Asia, the PMPL South Asia Championship was screened on the cinema big screen with QFX Chhaya Center playing host to hundreds of cheering fans attending. The tournament was also broadcast across all participating regions in South Asia in English, Nepali, Mongolian and Urdu on the PUBG MOBILE South Asia Esports social media properties along with the social media pages of the teams and other popular local Esports and video gaming influencers.

The live broadcast also featured popular South Asian celebrities who joined the action by cheering their own fantasy teams created among the pool of players in the tournament. Actress Riyasha Dahal from Nepal, actor Bayarbat Mishigdorj from Mongolia, cricket star and former captain Angelo Mathews from Sri Lanka and the talented social media icon Areeka Haq from Pakistan joined the broadcast.

PUBG MOBILE continues to play a pivotal role in the intense growth of Esports in South Asia and continues to draw millions of players daily due to its unique game mechanics and survival elements.

To this end, the PUBG MOBILE Club Open has also shifted to a regional amateur and semi-pro tournament contrary to its previous position as a direct “gateway to PMPL”. Instead, the PUBG MOBILE National Championship and Regional Cup will serve as gateways to PMPL, along with a range of local and regional PUBG MOBILE Esports authorized events to rack up points for spots in these two tournaments.
